Download a Route Card Here
Route Cards are a simple form that can be left with someone
with information on your trip. If you don't return, they
should then know where your are or where to look for you. The normal
way to use them is either to collect them when you get back or to
phone the person who has the card to confirm that you are back
safely.
We recommend that you read the following links to understand the
advantages and disadvantages of Route Cards.

thoughts on Route Cards.
There are clearly both advantages and disadvantages to route
cards.
SOTA Beams has produced a route card that can be downloaded here.
You are welcome to use it as you see fit.
In downloading the route card you accept that safety
in the mountains relies on your own skills and equipment. A route
card is no substitute for proper experience and equipment.

mood takes me) |
Each summit is listed in the format:
NZ030 Pig's Ear Hill (4) fm SW
Where NZ030 is the SOTA reference (no hyphen), Pig's
Ear Hill is the name of the hill, (4) is the number of
points for SOTA and fm SW indicates where the parking place
is in relation to the summit. Thus it is easy to search by summit
name or SOTA reference.
The PoI file may have errors in it so always check to make sure
that the location accords with the map before driving there. If
there are errors,
please let me know.
Please DO NOT contact us to ask how to use this
file. Search on the internet for instructions - usually about
putting GATSO camera files on your Tomtom.

"Fantastic download
takes you right to the already-tried parking places and is very easy
to download and install. Would not be without it now!"
"I was on my way home from a course in Stafford
and set TOM TOM for SP013 Gun - it took me right there, then I set
it for SP015 the Cloud - took me right to the parking spot then set
it for SP004 Shining Tor - again right to the parking spot.
If I had not had this I would have spent more time stopping to look
at the road atlas etc.
Many many thanks - one of the most useful downloads ever."
How was it done?
Each summit reference and details was typed by hand
into POIEdit. The grid reference for each summit was typed into
Anquet. The surrounding area
was carefully examined using the 1:50,000 OS maps and likely routes
noted. An assessment of the amount of climb for each route was
carried out as was an assessment of the likelihood of being able to
park at the start. Where doubt existed, a search was carried out on
the internet to see how others ascended the hill. After all that,
the lat/long of the preferred parking place was written down and
transferred to POIedit. Once this was done, the location was
cross-checked against Multimap.
Only then was it published - phew!

POIEdit, this file can be converted to other GPS formats for
