Designed for the popular Elecraft KX-1, the KX1 Flight Deck provides a firm and durable operating environment. Made of cast acrylic the KX1 Flight Deck is designed to take your radio, a notepad and Palm Pico Paddle or Palm Mini Paddle. The radio etc are held in place using a specially designed quick-release system, this makes it easy to remove the radio, paddle etc for transport.
The Flight Deck makes using your radio in the field so much easier with everything to-hand. The KX1 Flight Deck sits comfortably on your knee.
For added convenience, I have included an area to write summit references etc using a permanent marker. This can be cleaned off with rubbing alcohol.
The KX1 Flight Deck includes :
Radio, Paddle not included. The KX1 Flight Deck is manufactured in Hi Viz orange.
Flight Deck: 270H x 170W mm
Pad area: 160H x 108W mm
Weight 170 g.
Lefthanded? No problem. Turn the Flight Deck over and mount the gear on the other side. This side is not engraved however.

I'm using the KX1 Flight Deck with my Elecraft KX2. It fits perfectly and helps to keep "nature" away from the KX2, Palm Paddle and notepad.
I've used it during several QRP outings (Flight of the Bumble Bees, Skeeter Hunt, etc.) and wouldn't go out into the wild without it.

I received my KX1 Flight Deck just in time to use it for QRP Afield. It's a nicely designed unit that allowed me to operate without having to juggle the radio and Palm paddle back and forth. When operating in contests or events, I typically log using a Palm Pilot PDA running an application called GoLog. Instead of affixing the included paper log, I found that I could criss-cross the elastic bands over the Palm Pilot and was able to use it for logging without a problem.
I was disappointed in the quality of the included elastic bands. They are the lightweight type you might find holding together your rolled-up morning paper and are not in keeping with the quality of the flight deck itself. In fact, one broke the first time I used it. Fortunately there are a few spares included so it wasn't a disaster. I do plan to look for something more heavy duty - probably ones designed for use with hair.
All in all, this is a very worthwhile addition to my field bag. It's nice to be able to operate while sitting in a chair or on a rock or log without having to worry about the various pieces of your station falling to the ground.

I do not have the possibility to use it on outdoor activities yet.
