Crimp Tool for PowerPole® Connectors

***A good quality tool that will give years of service***

For 15-30-45 Amp inserts. PowerPole® connectors can be crimped or soldered. Crimping is a quick and effective way of making reliable DC connections.

Useful as a "club-buy" to share between members. Connectors not included.

Tips on crimping

Crimping is a connection method that requires the plug insert to be deformed to grip the wire (to form a good connection). If the wire in the crimp is too small, the crimp will not be deformed sufficiently to grip the wire. In such cases, it is often possible to get a viable crimp by doubling up the wire inside the crimp. If this fails you either need a smaller crimp or you will have to solder the wire.

45 Amp Powerpole contacts have a slightly different design to the 30 and 15 Amp variety. The 45 A contacts have open "wings" to accommodate the wire correctly. To get a good crimp they need to be carefully aligned in the tool. If you are not very good at aligning things, an easy way to ensure a good crimp is to squeeze the wings together with very slightly with pliers once the wire is inserted and before crimping.

crimp tool for anderson powerpole connectors

Posted by Derrick on 21st Jun 2018

I decided to buy the correct tool for this product but I am very disappointed with the poor way it crimps the 45 amp powerpoles. I wasted many crimps trying to get it to crimp properly but everytime I crimped a 45 amp connecter it bent one side of the holding crimp in the other direction meaning outside the unit not in to the middle! I wasn't doing it incorrectly either. To me the crimp tool was not correctly set up or machined properly. The only way I could make it crimp correctly was to use pliers to very gently squash the two sides together then it worked but really it should have worked properly. I did phone Richard up at Sotabeams but he wasn't really interested and didn't offer me a replacement just saying that I have sorted it out by using pliers to make it work ok. He sent me 5 new 45 amp inserts replacing the ones that the tool damaged. I wasn't impressed how he dealt with it. The tool was faulty! He should have offered me a replacement. I shouldn't have to use pliers on the crimps before I make up new cables. So I am very disappointed!

    Worth getting

A great item that is worth getting if you use Powerpole connectors. I was a bit hesitant to begin with as I know PPs can be soldered. This is a great tool and not only saves time makes a really strong joint on a range of wires.

Great price for this set of powerpole connectors. Worked great with the respective crimping tool I bought from you. TNX.

    Essential tool!

Yes, you could solder all the connectors but if you are doing more than the odd one, then this tool will save you a lot of time and hassle.

Quality product that gets the job done

Posted by Mark Shelton on 23rd May 2017

This is a quality tool that produces tight crimps and the price is competitive. I have made a couple of dozen crimps so far and none have failed. So it does exactly what it says on the tin.

    Very easy, high quality crimps

Posted by Graeme Sutherland on 27th Feb 2017

Really happy with this crimper. Spent a couple of evenings putting 30A powerpoles on all the power cables. This tool works well and makes strong, tidy crimps. That satisfaction of a tool that works well.

    Quality Crimper

Posted by Emyr Morris on 5th Jan 2017

I've owned quality crimpers for 50 ohm and 75 ohm BNC and know the value of having the correct tool for the job and a quality one at that. This crimper falls into that 'correct tool and quality tool' category and should give years of service. Thank you de 2W0MWM

Works well, but it is not a PowerPole(R) Product

Posted by Unknown on 28th Dec 2016

I bought got one of those and it made my power cabling life much easier! However, one needs to get the orientation the correct way round, and not crimp too close to the contact. Otherwise, it will bend and not slide into the connector casing. Despite it working well, I am giving it 4 stars for not being a PowerPole(R) branded product. The tool was made by a company called Iwiss.

    A good, economic alternative

This tool gives a far better 'roll and crimp' action than simple pliars. I've used it now for making up small wiring looms for some EmCom station packages and all the connections have passed quite hard testing. Of course one needs to be aware of the correct orientation of the contact before squeezing but that is all part of the technique. And we'll get fewer conductor fractures now! I would use the same tool professionally as well. (And have done too).
