Our 7m poles are perfect for lightweight portable radio operating. They represent the optimum balance between weight and height for applications where the poles must be carried to site. Longer poles are hard to manage in many conditions.

Note that we usually glue on the base cap of the 7m pole, as otherwise it tends to work loose and fall off. If this is a problem, please leave a note in the "Order Comments" box when checking out and we should be able to supply an unglued one.

Base caps on 10m poles are not glued. The top and base caps are push fit on the current 7m and 10m poles, but tend to stay on a bit better on the 10m poles.

Dimensions and weights approximate.  Poles may differ from the pictures in colour.

"Must-have" Accessories

Pole bags: protect your pole with a durable nylon storage bag.

We also supply guying kits and insulators for our poles. Click the links below for details:

Applications

All our poles will support a lightweight longwire or dipole antenna with ease and are readily erected by one person. They will stand a moderate wind if properly erected. Each pole comes complete with a set of instructions and our suggestions on how they might be used.

Other Uses

These poles are also ideal as the top section for home-station vertical antennas.

A few people have purchased them for use as quad spreaders. People have also bought them to use as elements for lightweight HF yagis - six poles would make a near full-sized 3 element beam for 20/30m if attached to a suitable boom. Four poles could make a nice "Moxon Rectangle" antenna. One person bought four poles to use at the end of the elements of his 80m yagi!

    Excellent

The 7 mtr pole has been my base station antenna support for just over a year. I have purposely left it up permanently and it has survived winds of force 9

    Telescopic Mast

Posted by Ivan Rogers on 19th Oct 2018

Hi Richard Your telescope mast is absolutely brilliant. I have replaced my aluminum support in the garden with yours. The mast is light, able to maintain the antenna easily by collapsing the sections. It also withstood the high winds very well (top two sections of mast removed for rigidity) Together with your doublet centre dipole insulator it all assembled very easily. Ivan (G0BON)

Good quality. The friction lock on each pole section is more secure than some other teslecopic poles of a similar price.

    Telescopic Antenna Mast 10m

Posted by Steve on 4th Jun 2018

Fast delivery thank you, mast is solid with plenty of sections, only problem I had when unpacking it all fell out the bottom, so screwed back on the cap which was inside the packaging but I found any movement of the poles inside dislodged the bottom cap, the cap threads are not gripping to well but cured it with gaffa tape so no big deal, satisfied customer as usual from Sotabeams :-)

I am really impressed with the SOTA pole I purchased!

Posted by Richard Burgan on 8th May 2018

I purchased a 7M SOTA pole to construct a VHF colinear antenna. I made a special request to have it shipped to Okinawa, Japan. Sotabeams made a believer out of me with superb customer support. The pole was delivered to my door in record time. The pole was exactly as described and I was able to assemble the antenna within it. The antenna has been up and has already experienced 35 knot winds with no problems. I will be adding two sets of guy lines in hopes that the antenna will stand up to our frequent typhoons. I plan to order more from Sotabeams in the near future.

    outstanding portable and semi-permanent pole

Posted by Peter, GM0EUL on 14th Apr 2018

I bought this at the end of last year as a light antenna support for portable use. I cable-tied it to a drain pipe at the side of my garage and used it as a support for one end of a "temporary" long wire for some playing on 80m. It stayed up outside, supporting my wire, all through the winter and the terrible wind, rain and snow blizzards of February and March. It stayed up with no attention and is still as good as new. I also used three sections of it duck-taped to a ladder as a support for testing a home-made hex-beam. It stood up to that abuse perfectly and still looks as good as new. I haven't used it portable yet but planning a road trip in May if not before. This is one of the best radio accessories I've got, I don't know how I managed without it and for £20 everybody should have at least one!

Strong light support which worked well on Studland Beach. Looking forward to using it over the summer.
