Notes

The mast is made of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) = Fiberglass. This is an insulator with excellent RF properties (very low loss).

The packed length can be reduced to 54.2 cm by removing the top and bottom caps - useful in some airline carry-on bags. The maximum dimension for an airline carry-on bag  is typically 56 x 35 x 22 cm.

Friction lock: pull each section firmly with a twisting motion for best lock. When erecting always start with the smallest section. When taking down always start with the largest section.

Mast sections may be removed by unscrewing the endcap at the bottom of the mast, pulling out the shock absorber and removing unwanted sections. Always replace the shock absorber before use.

    Ultra portable 6m mast

Posted by Éric Gosselin on 9th May 2019

Very well designed mast, perfect match with my 2 bands sotabeam dipole.
I had a little problem with the post service ,I tought my parcel was lost because of anomaly long delivery and didn't pay for the tracking ( that I will take the next time)but with the excellent easy communication with sotabeam we find a solution.

    COMPACT ULTRA-PORTABLE 6 M (19.6 FT) MAST

Posted by Matthew Pullan on 13th Mar 2019

I really like this mast: its stiffness means very little flex under the weight of the antenna and very little flex in strong winds. I used to use the 10m mini travel mast, but now I use this mast all the time. I have not noticed any drop in DX contacts. Highly recommend!

Excellent pole that fits in luggage!

Posted by Dom Smith on 21st Feb 2019

A few days after ordering the pole, I went to CT3 for a SOTA trip. The timing of this new product was perfect. Although I love the Compact Lightweight 10m mast I previously brought from SOTABeams, it's just a few cm larger than my suitcase. This ultra portable mast fits perfectly, was robust enough to withstand some reasonable gusts and held my linked dipole really well. I just needed to switch to a slightly smaller diameter ring on the guying kit from the one I previously used.

    Tactical Mini Mast 6m

Posted by Saku Metsälä on 17th Feb 2019

I have hade already DX Wire Mini Mast, Tactical 7000 and the newest one is Tactical mini. During last 5,5 years I have made about 300 SOTA and WWFF activations and I need to say the all of them have own place for activators. Earlier I used 10 meter masts, but during two last years I have used shorter, because you do not need more than four to six meter high mast for operating Europe and Northern America. 10 meter is approriate for 20m vertical antenna, for linked dipole and end-fed antenna work very well with shorthern mast. I can recomendate all of those three masts. And if you travel and are willing to operate, the Mini Mast is what best one, because you do not need big luggage, small one is enough.

    COMPACT ULTRA-PORTABLE 6 M (19.6 FT) MAST

Has not been used as yet, but I welcome the stronger construction. A small eye loop on the end of the pole would be useful.
