"A unique high-quality portable mast designed for extreme conditions"
Also available from our international agent(s):
For many years we have been asked by our customers for a heavy-duty telescopic mast that packs small enough for serious portable operation. They wanted something that was up to the most extreme conditions nature can muster. They asked for a mast that was stiffer than other products. After many months of design work with a specialist composites manufacturer we are please to introduce the Tactical 7000 hds (heavy-duty short) mast to our product range.
***SHIPPING***: Due to the size of this item, your order may be sent in separate shipments. Please contact us for a quote if you'd prefer your order to be shipped as one.

The mast is made of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) = Fiberglass. This is an insulator with excellent RF properties (very low loss).
The packed length can be reduced to 58.2 cm by removing the top and bottom caps - useful in some airline carry-on bags. The maximum dimension for an airline carry-on bag (56 x 35 x 22) is 69.5 cm diagonally bottom right to top left.
Friction lock: pull each section firmly with a twisting motion for best lock. When erecting always start with the smallest section. When taking down always start with the largest section.
Mast sections may be removed by unscrewing the endcap at the bottom of the mast, pulling out the shock absorber and removing unwanted sections. Always replace the shock absorber before use.
A benefit of this premium product is our spares support.
The following spares are all for the Tactical 7000hds:
- Replacement mast sections
- Spare shock absorbers
- Spare camouflage bags
- Push on top cap
- Screw on base assembly
*Camouflage pattern on bag may vary from batch to batch

Couldn't put the mast to the test yet as the country here is locked down. Only walking, running and bicycling is allowed here, being stationary outside sitting on a bench is not. Fully extended the mast and swayed with it vigorously on my balcony terrace, it's a lot stiffer than I expected. Also just keeping it horizontal shows very little bending, excellent. I wish the mast was just 1 or 2 meters longer but I can't make that a negative as I knew the mast is 7m long. Quite content. It's going to be great taking it with me in a travel bag once we're allowed to fly again.
This mast has withstood a semi-permanent installation in my back yard during a recent March snowstorm and is particularly sturdy for a friction-locked fiberglass mast, owning a couple others. I would recommend if you want a heavy duty but still somewhat portable mast.
The construction of this was much stronger and heavier duty than i expected. Many products are sold as heavy duty when in fact they are not. In this case, my expectations were completely surpassed. I have seen some rubbish masts in this space and this IS NOT one of those. Highly recommend.
Compact and easy to use. A one person operation. Not over priced.
I've used this mast during several field events since receiving it and have been very impressed. I also own the older "grey" travel mast. That mast is a real pain to get a heavy dipole on (like the 80m linked dipole). This mast holds it up with no issues at all. I plan on ordering two more to fly a dipole up horizontally at 7 meters. I did try a set up with a 20/40M inverted V under high wind conditions (~40kmh) without any guy lines (I forgot them). It held perfectly vertical with almost no flexing.
Initially I had an issue with quality on one of the segments, it was cut at an angle, which caused the mast segment above it to slip out. I contacted SOTABeams, and they fixed the issue right away with no hassle. The company really stands by their product!
The best 7m mast on the market. Robust and compact. The ideal size to take on a hike.
I’ve used this for months now on nearly 40 peaks. It has taken 50 mph winds, falls, and travel, except when TSA put it together wrong and cracked one piece. It is not the lightest but it is reliable.
Excellent product, sturdy and should last many years.
Am using it as support for AH-4 with 23 foot wire vertical.
As others observe, customer service from Richard is first class.
Compact in dimensions, very useful in portable operations, also with sotabeams linked dipole
Well made product. Just the right collapsed length for my luggage case !. Will be using it with a length of wire and a "9 to 1" UnUn.
