Insertion/Extraction Tool for PowerPole® Connectors
For 15-30-45 Amp PowerPole connectors.
Note: PowerPole connectors can often be assembled without the help of this tool. In our opinion, this tool is:
- ✗ Not needed for insertion of contacts attached to thick wires. With thick wires, the contact will usually click into the shell if you just push it in using the wire (after crimping or soldering the contact).
- ✗ Not needed for insertion of PCB contacts. These can be pushed in either by hand, or by using some small pliers to grip the PCB end of the contact and push it in.
- ✔ Helpful for insertion of contacts attached to thinner wires that flex more easily. These are more difficult to insert into the shell by pushing on the wire. However, if you only have a few connectors to assemble, a small flat-bladed screwdriver may be an adequate substitute tool - insert the screwdriver into the end of the shell alongside the wire and push on the end of the contact.
- ✔ Very helpful for extraction of contacts from Powerpole shells. Extraction is more tricky than insertion, and is difficult to do without this tool. Needing to extract contacts is rare though.
