I have spent years searching for the ideal way of winding up antenna wire for use in the field. These special winders are just about perfect! Lightweight and with an elastic fastener to secure the wire, they are quick and easy to use.
Wire winders ensure tangle-free aerials and rapid deployment - perfect! Great for SOTA, caravanning and DXpeditions!
Use a figure-of-eight winding technique which helps to ensure no kinks in the wire.
We recommend three winders for a dipole fed with RG174 (one for each half of the dipole and one for the co-ax and back guy). Two winders are usually adequate for a dipole fed with RG58 (cable coiled separately).
If you are making antennas using our Wirewinders, consider investing in one of our rugged antenna bags - designed for use with Wirewinders.

What can you say? The idea is so simple, you think "Why didn't I think of that?" But we didn't.
The brilliance here is not so much the idea, but the execution. Strong, but very light. And it even has a shock-cord to hold the wire in place while packed.
The only improvement I could see is the available colors. I like my antenna parts stealthy. OD-green or brown would be a nice addition.

Richard,
The ones from you I have have seen a lot of action on dx trips almost since you started to do them.
I have lost the bungee thing with the yellow ball from one and the slot on another has broken off (dropped it) but they have done tens of thousands of miles and probably a hundred deployments in all sorts of environments. In KH8 from the beach force 6/7 which is a bit blowy during the day feels damn windy and dangerous during the night (when I operated) being qrp you just cannot get a good signal out to EU in the day from there. The one winder I took with home brew W3EDP did sterling service as emergency antenna after main one broke using two palm trees as supports. Same in KH6 and allowed a rapid station to be up and running using palm trees on the beach.
Yes if a wire will tangle it will choose the most inopportune and worst time to do it use a wire winder and it will save hours of frustraition.
You can quote me too!

I have been lookiing for such a product a very long time, this one is perfect. Good material, does not break also when it is cold and the elastic band to fix the wire is very useful.

I used two of these for some long dipoles and they really do make you life easier, no more tagled wires and frustrated activations

Very good product I can fit 3 of them in my SOTA pack 2 have my par end fed antennas and 1 has all my antenna support strings.
with par end feds if you put the coax so239 through a hole in the winder then screw a pl259 threaded ring on the "magic box" it stays in place then you wind on the antenna wire after. very snug .

Got tired of using cardboard cut-outs to wind my wire antenna elements... Great product and reasonably priced.
