Heavy Duty Antenna Wire  Dark Green (50 metre, 164 ft or 100 metre, 328 ft )

The Heavy Duty version of our popular Green wire. This heavy duty wire has a stranded tinned copper conductor and a UV-stable  PVC jacket. It is ideal for making permanent antennas. The 50 metre reel size is perfect for making most HF antennas (such as an 80m dipole). We also sell 100m reels.

The green cable jacket colour is unobtrusive in many applications - perfect for antennas, radials and counterpoises. With a resistance of less than 1 Ohm/50 metres, it's great for high power use too!

This wire is manufactured in the UK to our own specification.

  • 1,000 Watts RF rated (50 Ohm)
  • conforms to Military Defence Standard 61-12 pt 6,

  • 1 mm² total conductor CSA (approx. 17AWG)
  • 32 strands x 0.2 mm copper conductor stranding,
  • 2.55 mm cable diameter,

    Wire Skyloop

Posted by Austin M0MNE on 4th Mar 2022

I used this wire to build an 83m long super stealth HF horizontal sky loop which I hoped was going to work and remain more or less permanent. I chose the right stuff for the job. Not only did it survive all the abuse from trying to get it up through all the trees and into the air in the first place, but it survived the several gales that ripped through in subsequent weeks! I'd recommend this for any antenna project that you want for a semi-permanent or permanent duty. Antenna works great and it's thanks to this stuff. Easy to solder too. You can tell it's mil-spec wire and the insulation doesn't melt when it gets hot.

    Super quality product, excellent service

Posted by Kevin Haworth M0TNX on 14th Apr 2021

I think I've just found my go-to wire and supplier!! I've used speaker wire in the past from a well-known auction site, the quality doesn't come anywhere close to this wire. It is a little more expensive but very supple, strong and easy to use. The service from SOTA Beams was outstanding.

Posted by Phil Baguley on 24th May 2020

I have not done anything with the cable yet. However, it appears to be of good quality and is perfect for my plans. The service from Sotabeams is exemplary and SWMBO always appreciated the bonus packet of sweets enclosed!

Quite happy with the service, but perhaps using a different delivery company. Many other parcel services are much quicker even in times when we are in a lock down situation, just a thought
