Random Wire for QRP/P and FT-817

I was really pleased with the quality of this wire, especially as it's the first wire purchase that I've made. Always good quality from Richard.

    Ideal for where I live

With an exceptionally small back garden, I've managed to make an 80m and 40m linear loaded dipole that's almost invisible!

    60 meter antenna - Great!

Use this lightweight, green wire to build a 60m NVIS antenna. You can hardly see it in the trees. Durable and easy to throw into a tree.

    NVIS "X" Configuaration

Posted by Gary Kirk on 16th Dec 2017

I decided to build a cross section two element 1/2 wave dipole "inverted V" with one element being tuned to 40mtr and the other element, at 90 degree from the other, tune for 80mtr. I bought this spool of 100 mtr wire and completed my build. The antenna wire was excellent for what I needed. Strong enough not to stretch or difficult to put on the winders, and light enough to carry in my backpack for portable use. I would highly recommend this for any wire antenna that anyone is thinking of making as it really is top quality stuff.

Good antenna wire, easy to solder, doesn't seem to stretch

Posted by Robert M0NVQ on 12th Nov 2017

This lightweight antenna wire is really useful. I am using it in conjunction with Sotabeam Versatile Top Antenna Insulators at the ends with Sotabeams Hi Viz Antenna Cord for my inverted ‘V’ 40 meter/15 meters dipole. I found the wire easy to solder to the feeder. The antenna wire doesn’t seem to stretch. The Sotabeams HI Viz Antenna Cord is good because my dipole ends are tied to trees in the garden, so I don’t stumble in to them. The Sotabeams Versatile Top Antenna Insulators make good insulators for the dipole ends. I did have this set up as a 40 meters / 20 meters inverted V fan dipole which worked really well. Currently using the single 40 meter (7MHz) dipole I found it resonant on 15 meters (21MHz). With plenty of wire on the reel, I am going to put the 20 meter dipole back on as a 40/20/15 meter fan dipole.

    Antenna wire for stealth

Posted by Dave on 28th Oct 2017

Purchased this wire for two projects: 1. After building an HF vertical antenna that has low visual impact, three 5 mt. radials were required to finish the project. This fitted the bill perfectly. 2. A wideband lightweight portable antenna that required no tuning was the next construction and this wire proved to be more than adequate.

Light Quality Wire and Inexpensive Too

    Posted by W4DOI on 26th Oct 2017

This antenna wire has amazed me. Comes in several colors. It is lightweight but has held up to numerous deployments. I have used it for a full size 80m doublet and deploy it while operating portable 5-10 times each month, sometimes more. I was skeptical that such lightweight wire would last but this wire has stood the test of time and use. Great for portable antennas and counterpoises. Highly Recommended. PLUS, its inexpensive too!!

    Versatile and inexpensive

I've used this wire for a few years now. I it's really excellent for building ad hoc single band dipoles and us great for temporary counterpoise wire. Easily reused, and so I'm still working on my first 100 meter roll.

    Simply the best!

Posted by Chris Hendry VK3PAT on 23rd Jun 2017

I really enjoy antenna projects and have made several portable dipoles using this wire and the Sotabeams balun kit. All work brilliantly. I also made an 80m dipole "fencetenna" in a horizontal "L" shape 1.8 metres above the ground and managed a QSO Melbourne to Tibooburra (1,000Kms) on 80m. I'm currently working on a 20m/40m fan dipole for portable work. This antenna wire is strong, light and durable - highly recommended.

    Lightweight Antenna Wire

Posted by Paul on 21st Mar 2017

Bought a reel of this wire last year as my XYL was rather vocal at the first attempt at a 7 meter high washing line and wanted something a little less visible. She does not recognise RF beauty and an 80' long wire is as stealthy as I can get without filling the loft full of wire. Must admit it has stretched a little, but has survived Hurricane Doris and with my home brew antenna match even puts out a signal that has worked DX on TOP Band despite being clearly compromised in length for this frequency.
