PowerPole® Easy-Fit Battery Connection Kit

The most expensive item that you carry with you when going portable is probably your radio. Protect that investment with our PowerPole® Easy-Fit Battery Kit.

"I am amazed at how many portable operators connect their equipment up directly to a battery using crocodile clips. This is a recipe for disaster as many radios do not have reverse polarity protection. When you are tired, wet and cold, making a mistake connecting a battery is easy to do. So easy indeed that many SOTA activators have done just that - and written-off their expensive radios. I don't want to have that happen to anyone, hence this Easy-Fit kit. No excuses!" Richard G3CWI

Our Easy-Fit kit protects your equipment in two ways:

  • by using PowerPole® connectors, making a mistake with polarity of your battery is a thing of the past
  • fusing your equipment helps to protect the equipment itself and your batteries from damage.

Our Easy Fit Kit consists of:

  • a 20cm fused lead that should be connected to the battery
  • two fuses (choice of 1, 2, 4, 5,10, 15, 20  or 25 Amp) - that's one to use and one as a spare.
  • two 20cm leads that can be used to connect 12 Volt equipment to the battery supply.

Note that we use high quality connector blocks (max wire CSA 6mm2) with built in wire-protectors for best performance.

The kit is easy to fit (hence the name). Five minutes with wire strippers and a screwdriver and you will be able to relax knowing that your radio and battery are properly protected.

The Easy-Fit kit is equally as useful in the shack. Once you start using PowerPole® connectors you will never go back to crocodile clips. This is a very cheap and effective way to protect your investment in radio equipment!

We recommend the 5 Amp fuse for FT-817 type radios and all radios up to 15 Watts o/p. For higher power radios we recommend the 25 Amp fuse. The Easy-Fit kit is perfect for all battery types.

Allowed me to make a connection from a lithium RC battery pack to the power pole adapter on the 817 without buying an expensive tool.

    Safe at last

After many years of using crocodile clips for connecting my radio to batteries I am now confident in not reversing polarity or short circuit. What is more the easy and quick connection and disconnection to a number of equipments in the field make life so much easier in inclement weather especially. An excellent addition to the SOTA operators rucksack.
